We would like to invite you to our 7th annual KCNA “Family Camp” this summer which will be held at the beautiful YMCA Cedar Glen Camp, Schomberg, Ontartio, Canada from August 6-8th. This year we had extended an extra day because of the travel time and our big prayer book project. Family Camp always tries to incorporate and educate the students through the culture of the place they visit and knowledge about Konko Faith to the children and their parents in age-appropriate ways. The theme for this year is “Prayer”.
This year at Toronto, the students will be learning about 1) The History of Toronto Church, 2) Prayer, we will discuss about what prayer means to them and why we pray, 3) Prayer Book, we not only would like to discuss about the message of each prayer but also go over the prayer book and simplifying it to a children’s level so they can understand what they are praying, 4) Mosaic Art, this year instead of science we will be exploring art. We will be planning to introduce history of mosaic art, followed by a fun mosaic art project.
This event is held immediately before the Annual Conference and is open to children from 1-12 years old, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the program. The lodging and food cost is free for children in that age group and up to 2 parents/guardians accompanying them. Each additional person over 12 will be $50. KCNA is also subsidizing each child’s transportation, based on average ticket price from the applicant’s church to the event site, whether they are flying or driving. Airfare arrangements must be made on your own. Your airfare will be reimbursed up according to the sliding scale on the Chart. Please see the “Chart” on Attachment A of this letter.
While Family Camp staff will be in charge overall, we need your help to create an environment where everyone will feel comfortable with the Konko Faith, both at the Camp and at their local churches. Therefore, all activities will emphasize having fun with the children AND parent(s)/guardian(s) participating, at all times, with the hands-on workshop and stimulating games. This year’s Coordinator is Rev. Amy Uzunoe-Chin and staff Ms. Miho Uzunoe.
Please find enclosed an application form and a flyer. The form should be signed by you and your Head Minister and returned to Rev. Amy Uzunoe-Chin at 9424 134th St. East, Puyallup, WA 98373 by June 1st, 2014. We hope to see you and your child(ren) this summer in Toronto Canada!!
