Death

Divine virtue will be with you even after death
and passed down to future generations.
It can be received by anyone who practices faith.
Divine virtue never runs out.

GII: Matsumoto Tashichi 1-1

Divine virtue is the working, blessing, love and compassion of Parent Kami which one can receive through faith.  The principal aim in our faith is to receive virtue.  How can we receive it?  In order to receive divine virtue we must be trusted by Kami.  Suppose you go to a bank, unless the bank has trust in you, you cannot receive a loan.  This is similar to the relationship between Kami and humans.

Divine virtue is invisible, however, it is a valuable asset.  It is like a bank account with Kami.  Compile virtue in the savings account with Kami and, when necessary, one can withdraw it.  Furthermore, to those who are trusted, Kami gives limitlessly and, therefore, virtue is inexhaustible.

Even after one passes away and the physical being is gone, the accumulated virtue one has obtained continues to live and function.  The virtue of Konko Daijin, for example, continues to shine over us radiantly.  Therefore, we must acquire faith in Kami and accumulate divine virtue which we can leave to our decendants so they may benefit as well.
