Patience

Patience is important at all times.
It is all the more important for practicing faith.
Having little patience won't result in divine blessings.
Divine blessings are bestowed through
the patience of practicing faith.
Think that divine blessings come from practicing faith,
rather than from Kami.
Practice faith with lasting patience.

GII:  Tsugawa Haruo 17-1&3-4

When something painful or hard to accept happens in our life, we often try to escape from it.  We might deny that the pain exists, or simply choose to ignore it.  Another common coping reaction is to run away (either physically or mentally) to avoid dealing with the problem.  Konko Daijin teaches us to abandon these methods and instead develop patience to deal more effectively with the difficulties in our lives.

When we are faced with a painful or difficult situation, we should not try to run away from it.  We should have faith in Kami no matter how hard the problems may be.  We should face the problems straight ahead and endure the difficulty knowing that it is a practice to make your faith stronger.

Konko Daijin teaches us to use our experiences as training to learn and further develop our faith.  In the same way exercising makes our bodies strong, having patience in tough situations makes our spirit stong.  With patience we can maintain our faith and strengthen our faith.  As a result, we will be able to receive more blessings in our daily lives.
