Principle Parent
The light that the sun shines upon us is a divine blessing.
So too for the rain that falls.
Kami lets all humans live amid divine blessings.
People are born into divine blessings,
live amid divine blessings,
and die amid divine blessings.
GII: Toshimori Shino 1-1
We often grumble at the weather. In most cases, our complaints are based wanting what is convenient for ourselves at that time. We usually only consider something immediately favorable or desirable to us as a divine blessing. This selfish and narrow-minded attitude causes us many difficulties.
Konko Daijin, fortunately, revealed the fact that we are allowed to live in the midst of divine workings of Kami, the Principle Parent of the Universe. Both birth and death are equally the process of changing form in this universe which is the divine presence of our Principle Parent. All phenomena in the universe are equally important and blessed.
Konko Daijin also taught us that misfortune could be a divine favor in disguise and we should view it as such and act toward it positively. We must open our eyes to the goodness that surrounds each and every occurance in our universe. With such complete faith in Kami, we should regard everything that exists or occurs as divine blessings. We will then be able to attain spiritual peace and enlightenment.
