True Heart

Divine blessings are within your harmonious and joyful heart.

GII: Sunami Sanokichi 8-1

Mr. Sanokichi Sunami and his father both had bad tempers and often fought.  One day after a quarrel, Sanokichi went to the Hiromae to see Konko Daijin.  Konko Daijin gave him a copy of Tenchi Kakitsuke, which said,

"Through Ikigami Konko Daijin,  To Tenchi Kane no Kami, pray with a single heart.  The divine favor depends upon one's own heart.  On this very day pray."

Konko-Sama explained that the line "The divine favor depends upon one's own heart" meant that divine blessings are within one's harmonious and joyful heart."

After receiving Tenchi Kakitsuke, Sanokichi went home filled with gratitude.  The next morning, in tears, he went to his father and apologized, "Father, I was wrong."  His father also cried happily and apologized, "Son, has your heart changed that much?  Really, I was the one who was wrong."  His mother also broke down and added, "I'm sorry to have been so tactless with both of you."  All three of them cried together.  From then on, they had no quarrels and his father even began to help him with his work.

The Sunami family was saved by Konko Daijin's teaching.  They were able to find the divine blessing within their harmonious and joyful hearts and receive great divine blessigs.  All of us can receive such blessings by truly following the teachings of Konko Daijin and developing a harmonious and joyful heart.
